A note from Carlin..

Hello College cohort,

My name is Carlin and I am nearing the completion of my internship with the ACT Recovery College.

I am a third-year student studying a Bachelor of Science in Psychology at the University of Canberra. Throughout my internship, I have been co-developing a 6-week Depression course with John, which will hopefully be available for students to enrol in come term 4.

This has been a great experience for me as I have learnt to develop PowerPoint presentations, Learning Experience Plans and create a Student Workbook to cover 6 weeks worth of sessions.

It has required a lot of patience, attention to detail and dissemination of information in order to develop a course that is balanced and ‘flows’ smoothly from one week to the next.

Eggs-ploring the range of emotions

The topics for the 6 weekly sessions are;

1. Introduction to Depression

2. Understanding Depression

3. Techniques that help

4. Treatments & Therapies

5. Recovery

6. Outcomes & Achieving goals

There are several topics within each of these weeks which will cover lots of useful content. I am looking forward to co-facilitating this with John once the course has been finalised. This will be a nice way to add to my experience at the ACT Recovery College.

After such a positive experience with the College, I am looking forward to staying on as a Volunteer in the future.

Looking forward to seeing you around the College soon.
